Rokka Shuzo is located in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture which is north part of Japan. Hirosaki has beautiful cherry blossoms in spring, a big festival in summer, marvellous red and yellow leaves in autumn and wonderful snowscape in winter. Especially winter in Hirosaki is freezing. In such winters, we brew sake, ‘Joppari’. Three sake breweries in Hirosaki merged to one brewery, Rokka Shuzo in 1972. They had long histories, Ichiyo since 1909, Shiraume since 1886 and Shirafuji since 1719. We still protect tradition, but try innovative attempt in the sake industry The mayor of Hirosaki at that time named the merged brewery Rokka in 1972 after crystals of snow associated with the snowy region, Hirosaki.
