A special sake with elegant fruity aromas and flavours. It has featured at the Nobel prize competition's 'Nobel Nightcap' party for two consecutive years.
The sake arrived in approx 5 days and was so well packaged; the bottle was tightly wrapped in bubble wrap to prevent breakage and then placed in the box and secured. The sake is the most delicious and such good value for a 1.8L bottle. Highly recommended for all sake lovers.
Kubota Hyakuju is the original 'kubota' sake. A blooming sensation with a dry after taste. Recommended to serve slightly chilled to enjoy a refreshing taste. Enjoy it with a simple side dish or on its own.
Classic style junmai sake features a rich and bold taste. This rich round junmai is full of savory tones such as mushroom, smoke and burnt lemon. The palate is very juicy with sweet spice and caramelized citrus and crisp acidity.
Modern sake seems to be leaning more and more towards a "banana" fad. This one has the banana in the background, but still too much for my palate.
If you are looking for a traditional dry "rice" taste, then I'd say this sake goes 70% to 80% there, but that resedue of 20% or 30% of bananarama makes me turn away alas...
